I know!! It was so dodgy, there were pedestrians crossing as the truck finally pulled out, and it looks like they got mown down at one point.
Anyway, funny, there was a big article in Blic about this whole episode the following day, because a girl photographed everything from her balcony. And in one of the Blic pictures there is a picture of me, filming everything, while my wife held the shopping - ha ha! And the paper criticised all "those" people who were just standing by, while this girl called the police and photographed everything. Problem is, the police turned up 45 minutes later, after the truck had gone, precisely illustrating why no-one bothers phoning the police...! _________________ Odista - professional English and Serbian translation services.

That you wake up to find that the apartment upstairs has been demolished overnight.
In any other country, you would be told of what was happening and advised to find alternative accomodation for the night, in case the building goes and collapses on you. But this is Serbia, so they do reroofing by pulling out an entire apartment (walls and all, it's a bit dramatic) then apparently doing absolutly nothing.
I suspect that I will be without a roof for weeks, possibly months. The builders are comedy themselves too, given that I don't see them do anything apart from sit outside chain-smoking.
I have been assured that the building is structurally sound and that i will not be buried alive. |
