Hi
I have a company registered in Slovenia. A doo, or limited company.
I want to rent a small out let in Serbia.
Can I do this through my Slovene business? Or would I have to form a Serbian company?
How easy is it to form a Serbian company and what is the process?

I have been told that to form a Serbian company I need a Serbian person as one of the owners or Directors, is this true?

Thanks
Lou

Hi Lou,

I saw your post the other day but have been too busy to respond.

The house you are selling sounds great, wish I was sitting on that cash right now Smile

Forming a company in Serbia has got a LOT easier, there is a kind of one-stop shop for starting companies (I think I mentioned it in that thread about registering a company - the APR). About needing a Serb national, no, I don't think that is necessary as such, I am not even sure if a foreign national had to be resident in Serbia (I could try to check for sure). I was a director of a doo before I got Serbian citizenship, no problem at all, but I had residence here.

But in Serbia a doo needs a director who is fully involved locally with the company - a doo is quite paperwork-intensive and often requires the director to sign things, there are monthly accounts, especially if you are VAT registered or keeping goods in stock. You can't just register it and then leave it really.

Well, I believe this Serbian Chamber of Commerce document contains up-to-date information, so have a look and see what you think.
